Things to Be Thankful For All Year

Thanksgiving is this month! Although we all look forward to what’s arguably the best meal of the year, Thanksgiving is also about more than just good food! It’s about being grateful for what we have. To help you develop a spirit of thankfulness, the Hillside Commons Blog is sharing some reminders for a few things you can express gratitude for.

Your Life

The gift of life is huge, but it is something that can be so easily taken for granted. Be glad you woke up this morning and that you have the opportunity to live on this incredible and beautiful planet. Do something to celebrate your life or the life of others this month.

The Chance to Learn

One inescapable part of being human is the fact that we are flawed. We mess up and make mistakes, but we have the opportunity to learn important lessons from those mistakes! Strive to be thankful for the learning opportunities brought by mistakes, instead of getting down on yourself for messing up.

Hobbies

It’s easy to beat yourself up for not having enough hobbies, not having hobbies that are interesting enough, or not being as skilled or proficient at your hobbies as you’d wish. But just the fact that you have them and you have the chance every day to develop them is a blessing! If you feel like you don’t have any, we encourage you to reevaluate. We each have talents and passions, so look for ways to embrace them to appreciate you.

A Home

Shelter is one of our basic needs, but some people don’t even have a roof over their heads. Be thankful for your apartment and that you have a place you can call home. Look for ways to give back to your community and better help those without a home this month and in the upcoming winter season!

What are you thankful for? Take some time this month to reflect on all the many things in your life you have to be grateful for. We hope you enjoyed this post and you have a wonderful Thanksgiving right here Oneonta, NY or wherever you may be.
